Agilent Technologies, Inc., incorporated in Delaware in May 1999, is a global leader in life sciences, diagnostics and applied markets, providing application focused solutions that include instruments, software, services and consumables for the entire laboratory workflow. In November 2024, Agilent announced a change in its organizational structure to support its market-focused, customer-centric strategy. The former Diagnostics and Genomics segment combined with liquid chromatography and liquid chromatography mass spectrometry instrument platforms to form the new Life Sciences and Diagnostics Markets segment. Chemistries and supplies, laboratory automation, and software and informatics divisions moved from the former Life Sciences and Applied Markets segment to the Agilent CrossLab segment. The remaining divisions — gas chromatography, gas chromatography mass spectrometry, remarketed instruments, spectroscopy and vacuum — formed the new Applied Markets segment. The Life Sciences and Diagnostics Markets segment provides specialty contract development and manufacturing services for pharmaceutical customers, as well as reagents, instruments, software and consumables enabling cellular and molecular analysis. The Agilent CrossLab segment spans the entire lab with an extensive services and consumables portfolio, plus software and laboratory automation solutions. The Applied Markets segment provides application-focused solutions enabling customers to identify, quantify and analyze the physical and biological properties of substances and products. Products are sold primarily through direct sales, with supplementary channels including distributors, resellers, manufacturers' representatives and electronic commerce. Primary research and development and manufacturing sites span the U.S., Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and the United Kingdom.
