Domino's Q3 2026: Order Count Growth Intact but Items-Per-Order Compression and Franchisee Profit Pressure Force Development Guidance Cut
Domino's delivered positive U.S. same-store sales of +0.3% in Q3 2026, driven entirely by order count growth in both delivery and carryout, but ticket deteriorated sequentially as items per order declined across 1P and carryout channels — a direct read-through of macro stress on lower-income consumers. The company cut full-year U.S. net new store guidance to 125-150 from a prior higher range, citing franchisee profitability pressure that management acknowledged will create incremental headwind to 2027 development visibility. Operating income grew 8.5% ex-currency and ex-refranchising, modestly above expectations, with supply chain gross profit dollars a meaningful contributor — but the structural tension between traffic-led value investment and franchisee economics is now the defining constraint on system growth.
