Energizer guides Q4 EPS +25% despite battery category softness; confidence in strategy intact
Energizer lowered full-year guidance to the low end of its range, driven by a 200–300 basis point category slowdown in batteries as consumers became more cautious mid-quarter than anticipated in May. Despite this external headwind, Energizer gained share and volume in the U.S. (+5% volume on category decline) and globally, expanded distribution, and sustained margin recovery—posting gross margin north of 40% expected in Q4 with 430+ basis points improvement from Q1. Management expects Q4 adjusted EPS growth of 25% at midpoint and strong free cash flow, signaling confidence that operational actions outpace near-term demand weakness.
