Vital Farms withdraws 2030 targets and cuts FY2026 guidance to ~$730M as egg category normalization erodes incremental households gained during avian influenza.

Vital Farms' Q3 2026 performance confirms the structural thesis management advanced in Q2: avian influenza-driven price compression attracted transitory light buyers who returned to private label once category supply normalized, not to branded competitors. Q3 net revenue of $182.2 million declined 8.4% year-over-year but rose 10% sequentially, with adjusted EBITDA recovering to $1.5 million from a $26.6 million loss in Q2, driven by a 59% reduction in breaker and wholesale volume. Management cut full-year guidance from $775-$800 million to approximately $730 million and withdrew its 2030 financial targets entirely, citing the absence of a seasonal demand lift, delayed distribution ramp velocity, and no assumption of conventional egg price firming into the holidays.

Vital Farms' aspiration is to become America's most trusted food company. Every day, we aim to raise the standards in the food industry and disrupt industrial, factory food norms. Our eggs and butter are sourced through a distributed supply chain of small farms that uphold our high animal welfare standards and produce exceptional products. We believe this approach creates a more resilient business that has enabled us to continue growing through a dynamic chapter in our industry. Our purpose is to improve the lives of people, animals and the planet through food. We are committed to Conscious Capitalism, which prioritizes positive, long-term outcomes for all of our stakeholders — farmers and suppliers, customers and consumers, communities and the environment, employees, who we refer to as crew members, and stockholders. Vital Farms was founded in 2007 on a 27-acre plot of land in Austin, Texas. Starting with a small flock of hens, we maintained a strong belief that a varied diet and better animal welfare practices would lead to superior eggs. Our first sales came from farmers markets and restaurants around Austin and, less than a year later, our eggs were discovered by Whole Foods Market, Inc. We have built our business through our strong relationships with family farms and deliberate efforts to design and build the infrastructure to bring our products to a national audience. Today, with a network of more than 600 small farms, we believe we have set the national standard for pasture-raised eggs. Our 'accelerator farms' project, launched in 2024, envisions a small number of farms that we own and operate, where we can implement innovative farming practices that can be scaled to the family farms in our network. We began placing birds on accelerator farms in 2025. We have increased net revenue from $260.9 million in fiscal 2021 to $759.4 million in fiscal 2025, which represents a 30.6% compounded annual growth rate.
